A new “Super Miller” mascot has been introduced at a pep rally at Washburn. The nickname “Millers” comes from the Gold Medal Flour brand once owned by our school’s namesake, Cadwallader C. Washburn. Over the years, the Miller has taken the form of a young boy, all the way to the last beloved Miller that served for nearly 30 years.
The new Miller represents an updated, more contemporary version that rivals any university or professional team logo that exists today. Designed by professional designer and animator, Matt Ebent (www.mattebent.com), who donated his time to give WHS’ beloved Miller an update. A group of students weighed in with valuable input and suggestions such as, “No tennis shoes please, only Doc Martens on our Miller,” and the faculty Communications Committee also made suggestions.
The new Miller projects energy, strength and confidence that represents all Millers – past, present and future. Two versions, or poses, have been created, a “revised” version that is similar to the current Miller, and a second “energized” pose.
The new Miller will be used for all official Washburn purposes beginning immediately. In addition, two large banners have been donated for the gym, and the new Miller will be featured at center court on the newly refinished gym floor.
Look for the new Miller on all Washburn apparel this Fall!
