Three considerations from the opposition (not to spirit but to educational, economic, and sociological wisdom of $400K for Wburn--one high school.

1) Get other 6 schools involved, see whether you might offer some inspiration and seed money. And why not St. Paul too. Forget the rich burbs, and whole state, too big a first bite.
2) Get Washburn teachers, students, parents, et all, to reconsider final list of how to spend the $400. I'd sure find $150 for teacher who says, "My room needs three maps." More teaching value than scoreboard or school sign. And what kind of proposal allocated 1/4 of total to single person, however grand and lovely (and I'm not teasing, really).
3) Get Dan Pratt and other athletic directors to meet with owners (PR folks) at 4 pro sports franchises. Propose that they give big, not just for athletics, but to schools who have given and will give them audiences.

Glad to help on any ideas that go in this spirit of what some today (like Michael Moore) sometimes call "Socialism." Rather than democracy. Fairness.

Best at the Parkway--best popcorn, sound, and size of all the rest--even some 65 years ago when I first went.

I plan to attend with my parents. We're looking forward to it. It's great to see such renewed interest in Washburn.
